Skye Rodriguez in the USF Housing marketing studio.

Skye Rodriguez

Next week, thousands of students across USF’s three campuses will move into the residence halls. Housing & Residential Education (HRE) staff spend months planning the logistics, including Grand Opening Day on Aug. 21 at the Tampa campus, to ensure a smooth process. Bull Haul volunteers will be stationed at unloading zones to assist incoming residents with the final leg of their journey.

Skye Rodriguez, HRE communications and marketing officer and USF alumna, leads the nearly 700 “Bull Haulers,” many of whom are often new students. They arrive early, meet their peers and receive the coveted Bull Haul T-shirt. Rodriguez also began her student journey as a Bull Haul volunteer and even met her future husband on her second day on campus. She later became a team captain and ultimately helped lead the entire program as Bull Haul’s student coordinator.

Next week, she will welcome the Bull Haulers and help them establish their peer support network right from the start. The camaraderie will grow quickly through this shared service experience, which is a vital part of Grand Opening. Together, their many hands will lighten the load for incoming residents as family members hold back tears, saying their “goodbyes.” Skye Rodriguez is a Bold Bull working tirelessly to ensure that when each car rolls to a stop, there’s a team ready to help their fellow students get from point A to B-U-L-L-S.
