It takes a lot of moving parts — and vehicles — to keep things running smoothly at USF. Lincey Araya, fleet services manager, oversees the people and processes that keep the university’s over 800 vehicles and more than 400 golf carts rolling.
After four years in her role, Araya has overseen a comprehensive upgrade of the Vehicle Maintenance Shop, with a focus on safety, productivity and job satisfaction. Her development of a new centralized fleet management program has helped departments across USF make better vehicle purchasing choices.
Araya inspects a recently returned golf cart.
Beyond the garage, Araya also manages the waste and recycling program. By working to decrease the amount of ineligible materials mixed with recyclables – known as the contamination rate – she helped the university lower its contamination rate from 40% to a system with entirely contamination-free recycling. Her strong leadership has caught the attention of the National Waste & Recycling Association, which recently featured her.
Lincey Araya is a bold Bull whose vision, hard work and dedicated collaboration have significantly improved USF’s efficiency and serve as an inspiration for others eager to bring their big ideas forward to help transform the university for the better.
