From the President
Greetings from Washington, D.C., where I have joined Association of American Universities President Barbara Snyder and fellow university presidents and chancellors for the fall membership meeting. As we know, this is an important time for higher education in our country and USF’s membership in the AAU enables us to remain at the forefront of conversations on key issues. Our agenda includes a discussion on federal appropriations as well as sessions with members of Congress and the U.S. energy secretary.
Updates
• I want to extend my sincere congratulations to Moez Limayem on his selection by the Board of Trustees as USF’s ninth president! While I have known Moez and his family for years, I was delighted to spend some time with him during each of his recent campus visits. He is truly excited to return home to our university and Tampa Bay. I am confident we will continue our momentum and achieve great success under his leadership.
• I hope you will mark your calendars for the two remaining regular season home football games to cheer on our Bulls as they vie for the American Conference title and a spot in the College Football Playoff. On Nov. 6, the team plays UTSA in the Salute to Service game, and the final home contest is Nov. 29 against Rice. I look forward to seeing you at Raymond James Stadium to cheer on the Bulls.
• We had a wonderful “Forever Green & Gold” Homecoming and I’m grateful to all our participants and volunteers who made it such a memorable week. As a USF alumna, Homecoming is one of my favorite traditions, and I was thrilled to see so many faculty and staff at our events, including the Running of the Bulls parade, the Alumni Awards ceremony and, of course, the football game vs. FAU, which drew our largest crowd for a Homecoming game since 2009. This was a terrific celebration of how far we’ve come in nearly 70 years as we also shared our excitement for what’s ahead for our great university.
