Before we could adjust digital layouts with an app or AI prompt, Anne Scott was performing typography surgery with an X-Acto knife. Joining USF in 1985 as an illustrator and now a member of USF’s University Communications and Marketing team, Anne has spent 41 years shaping the visual identity we see today.
If you have ever flipped through an issue of USF Magazine, you have experienced Scott’s tireless dedication. Over her remarkable four-decade career, she has designed roughly 105 issues of the venerable publication. She navigated the transition from back-lit drafting tables to modern digital asset management, ensuring USF’s identity always looked professional and unified as the university grew.
Scott’s USF timeline encompasses her extraordinary design work and her deeply personal journey. She met her husband here and even moved into his former role, taking over his campus phone number, which she still uses more than 30 years later. For her, USF has been much more than a place to work. It’s been a supportive community that has provided a family-friendly environment where she could thrive professionally while raising her two daughters.

As Scott retires next month, we owe her an enormous thank you for bringing the university’s story to life with such vibrant color, care and creativity.

Mapping USF's Future
Strategic Plan
Since its inception, USF has been on a bold, upward trajectory. This impressive rise has positioned the university to enter the next era. USF aims to become the model metropolitan research university that sets the national standard for education, innovation and impact in a world reshaped by intelligent systems. Faculty, staff and administrators are asked to join our students and community members in providing input in this process. Your voice plays a critical role in shaping the future of USF. Take the survey.
Back by popular demand: USF’s free online AI prompting microcourse
After seeing engagement from more than 7,500 participants earlier this year, USF's popular microcourse is back just in time for summer and already proving popular once again. The course is available until Wednesday, Sept. 30. Learn more.
As USF celebrates 70 years, we are reminded that enduring institutions are built on strong foundations, accountability and checks and balances. In this month’s fraud flash report, learn how to apply simple principles to your daily duties to eliminate opportunities for fraud and safeguard our university's legacy. Technology tip: Present like a pro with PowerPoint Live
PowerPoint Live in Teams makes presenting more seamless and interactive. Instead of sharing your entire screen during a meeting/webinar, click the “Share” button and select your presentation under the PowerPoint Live list.
This lets attendees navigate slides independently and use accessibility tools, while the speaker can view presentation notes privately and monitor the chat without leaving the slide view. It’s a smart way to stay organized and keep your audience engaged.
Bonus tip: You can also launch PowerPoint Live directly from PowerPoint by clicking “Present in Teams” in the top-right corner of your presentation.
