From the President

USF President Rhea Law at USF Outstanding Staff Awards

A huge thank you to those who have reached out since I announced my plans to step down as USF president after a national search for a new leader concludes. It has been such an honor to serve this remarkable institution and to work alongside you — our world-class faculty and highly dedicated staff and administrators.

During my tenure, I have been continually inspired by our people. You are the driving force behind improving our society through groundbreaking research discoveries, ensuring our university is a great place to work and learn, and providing our students with the knowledge and skills to be successful.

Knowing the talent and commitment of our team here at USF, I am confident in the path ahead and the potential of what is to come next. I look forward to celebrating even more great achievements as I continue to serve as president until a successor is in place.

Updates

• This morning we learned that USF is once again recognized as one of the nation’s top institutions for producing Fulbright Scholars. This is a source of pride for our university, as our faculty who participate in the Fulbright program enhance USF’s impact worldwide while making important contributions to our global research, learning and engagement activities.

• Congratulations to the nine USF faculty members who were named by the National Academy of Inventors to its class of 2025 Senior Members. These researchers are unleashing innovation and making a substantial impact within their respective fields, and we are thrilled to celebrate their outstanding contributions.

• The Carnegie Foundation has once again classified USF as a Research 1 university, the highest designation an institution can receive for its research efforts. We recognize this distinction comes as there are many ongoing conversations about future federal support of research. USF leadership is monitoring the latest developments, engaging with colleagues in higher education and staying in close contact with our elected officials. Updates continue to be posted here.

• I was proud to attend the State of the Region luncheon, where we unveiled the findings of two economic competitiveness reports jointly produced by the Tampa Bay Partnership and the Muma College of Business. As a past chair of the Tampa Bay Partnership, this event is especially meaningful for me, as it showcases the outcomes of USF's collaboration with this organization and its impact on our communities.
